I even joined the official fansite – of a screensaver. Serene Screen’s combination of beautiful fish and technology instantly had me hooked. This classic screensaver from the late 90s was created by the legendary artist of Defender of the Crown and more, Jim Sachs. I figured it out a few years and a couple of computers later though, when I stumbled upon the Serene Screen Marine Aquarium. Four years old at the time, and eight years away from getting my first PC, I had no idea what I was missing. Retro computing fans and well-seasoned enthusiasts may remember that the superlative Defender of the Crown first hit the Amiga in 1986. so it's cool you know. Some may think it strange to design and build an entire PC and custom enclosure dedicated to running a 20-year-old screensaver, but I can explain. Now, that not a problem if you have your PC set up like mine and after a while the screen goes black/blank anyways. Oh, has icons around the edges that can burn your screen in regular/demo mode. Once you get it installed then another con would be you have to hit EXIT to stop it. except for one thing> just have to click on EXIT & not just move your mouse or hit a key to stop the screensaver.Ĭons: Install is difficult and bothersome. Also, take note that interactive mode is not nessessary and that you can just use this program just like any other screensaver. This screensaver gave my computer NO problems. Just choose not to install all the things it bugs you to install (EXTRA THINGS). expected, right? Well, expect it everyone. I have to admit, since it's 100% free dealing with that is. Other reasons such as all the add-ons it bugs you to install into your browser and different changes to your PC (safe changes). Beware that you have to reboot to fininsh the install and it's a bit of a pain for other reaso ns.
